Nine emergency resolutions were adopted by Congress: concerning rights violations by major TNCs in the US (Hyatt) in Indonesia (Nestlé), in Panama (SABMiller) and in Russia (Unilever) and a brutal lockout at a New Zealand meat producer; concerning the repression of union activity in Iran and in Fiji and access to trade union rights for tobacco farm workers in the US; and concerning the outrageous prison sentence handed down to Egyptian trade union activist, Kamal Abbas.

Just days after Congress ended, our affiliates won at Nestlé Indonesia and at New Zealand meat producer, Talley’s/AFFCO. Negotiations to settle the disputes at SABMiller Panama and Unilever Russia are ongoing.
