South Africa: FAWU members at Coca Cola on strike in pursuit of agency shop agreement

Please find below the press statement of FAWU on the strike action of Coca-Cola Canners workers:

The Food and Allied Workers Union (FAWU) salutes the 300 workers employed by Coca Cola Canners at Wadevile who are on strike that started on the 6th November 2015 at 06h00 in pursuit of agency shop agreement given that FAWU represent 78% of bargaining unit employees in the company. This strike follows an overwhelming majority yes vote following voting by a secret ballot.

As part of intensifying the strike action at ABI Coke, COSATU General Secretary, Comrade Zwelinzima Vavi addressed a protest rally, following a march to SAB Ltd offices in Sandton, by striking workers of ABI Coke and workers of SAB beer and other Coca Cola bottling companies at 14h00 on 11th January 2010.

Massenverhaftung streikender FAWU-Mitglieder

Über 100 streikende Mitglieder von FAWU sind am 5. und 6. Januar in Midland und Develand, Südafrika, festgenommen worden. Die ArbeiterInnen sind seit 22. Dezember im Streik für bessere Löhne, bessere Schichtpläne, und gegen die Zunahme von Outsourcing und Leiharbeit bei ABI, der Erfrischungsgetränke-Division von SAB Ltd Südafrika.  

Südafrika: Beschäftigte bei Coca-Cola ABI im Streik

Mitglieder der Lebensmittelgewerkschaft  [FAWU],der IUL-Mitgliedsgewerkschaft in Südafrika, die Coca-Cola-Beschäftigte organisiert, sind seit 22.Dezember 2009 im Streik beim Coca-Cola-Bottler ABI, der Erfrischungsgetränke-Sparte des Brauereikonzerns South African Breweries (SAB).

South Africa: Coca-Cola Sabco Plans to Retrench 300 More

BEFORE the start of a bleak Christmas season there will be retrenchments at Coca-Cola Sabco plants and units.
Coca-Cola Sabco notified the Food And Allied Workers Union (FAWU) on the 9th October 2008 that they intend to lay off 300 workers across their plants and units throughout South Africa by end of October.

Coca-Cola South Africa Shopstewards Meeting

16 members Coca-Cola National Shopstewards Council adopted an action plan and work programme at its meeting held 4 – 5 July in JohannesburgSouth Africa. The meeting was supported by the IUF.
