Indonesian Coca-Cola workers demand reinstatement of union chairman

On Sunday February 5, IUF-affiliated Coca Cola unions SBCCB and SBCCD in Indonesia held a protest action where workers held a long march to the Coca Cola Cibitung plant.

Protesters are campaigning for the reinstatement of Atra Narwanto—SBCCD chairman who was unfairly terminated following Court decision October last year, wage scale transparency, job security and against unilaterally imposed shift changes.

Approximately 90 workers participated in the protest including other Coca Cola unions and the IUF affiliated SBNI Karawang who extend their support for the campaign. Similar protest action was held in the Coca Cola Semarang plant however many workers were afraid to participate as the management had issued a notice letter.

This is the first protest in a series of actions which will be organized in the next couple of months as decided in the meeting in January.
