Deadlock in wage negotiations in Minas Gerais, Brazil

As reported by STI Bebidas, the trade union for the Coca-Cola bottler Remil in Minas Gerais, Brazil, which has been acquired by Coca-Cola Femsa some months ago, wage negotiations have reached a deadlock. Brasil - Working time regulation improved through FELATRAC intervention

Workers at the Coca-Cola FEMSA distribution centre in Cosmopolis, Brasil, succeded to repeat the achievement of their colleagues in Jundiai and removed the "working time account" system, a form of working time flexibilisation detrimental to workers.

US: Strike continues at Coca-Cola Consolidated

Teamsters in Tillmans Corner, Gautier, Mississippi and Robertsdale are still on strike for their pension plan and other issues.

As the strike is ongoing for almost two weeks, workers feel so strong about their retirement that only 6 out of 275 have crossed the picket line.

They are determined not to have their plans for a future after decades of work for Coke having been destroyed by the company.

US: Teamsters on strike at Coca-Cola Consolidated

July 15. Teamsters in Southwest Alabama and Southeast Missouri went on strike at Coca-Cola Bottlers Consolidated facilities in Tillman's Corner, Robertsdale, Leroy and Vancleave after talks with the employer about a new contract broke down. At stake are first of all benefits for retirees - while workers, represented by Teamsters local 991, demand increased payments into their pension plans, the company wants to replace the current system with a what is know in the US as a 401(k) plan, which would considerably worsen the conditions, especially for veteran workers (A 401k retirement plan is a special type of account funded through pre-tax payroll deductions).

US: Teamsters win contract in Oceanside

July 13. Teamsters at Coca-Colas warehouse in Oceanside, California, overwhelmingly voted in favour of their first collective bargaining agreement. The agreement brings important improvements in the health care plan. Workers had been on strike for the agreement since July 1 and Teamsters local 683, which represents the workers, reported overwhelming support from the local community.
