Coca-Cola workers' unions were supported by social movement organizations and youth groups today in a mass rally in front of the headquarters of Coca-Cola Philippines.

In a mass rally in Manila protesting at the Coca-Cola Philippines headquarters against violations of workers' rights, unions and youth groups also sent a message to the Mexico-based Coca-Cola FEMSA:"Beware (open your eyes) - you might be buying a hornet's nest ... respect workers' rights in the Philippines".

THE Alliance of Coca-Cola Unions in the Philippines (Accup) is “unhappy” with the way the softdrink giant is spending millions for television commercials and advertisements to project the company’s good image in celebration of its 100 years of its manufacturing existence.

“Every time you open a bottle of Coca-Cola, please remind the company to respect workers’ rights,” this is the plea made by Coca-Cola union leaders this morning during a press conference. They are asking the patrons of the soft drink giant to support their struggle against employment policies that destroys regular jobs.

Coca-Cola Philippines caught lying about smuggled sugar imports

The Philippines Bureau of Customs has ruled that Coca-Cola deliberately mislabeled refined sugar imports as "premixes". Premixes carry zero duty tariff while refined sugar is subject to a 38 percent tariff. 
So Coca-Cola has been technically smuggling sugar and lied about it when caught.
