Austria: Unions and work council stop full outsourcing of Coca-Cola distribution

March 14, 2009. The Central works council and GMTN trade union were able to stop the full outsourcing of in Coca-Cola HBC Austria distribution, threatening the loss of 260 workplaces, in negotiations with management.

Coca-Cola Unions in Africa to intensify their cooperation

Coca-Cola union representatives from South Africa, Benin, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Tanzania, Togo and Zambia met March 12-14 in Johannesburg, South Africa to discuss successes and challenges of trade union work in the Coca-Cola system in Africa, and the integration of African Unions into the Global Coca-Cola Alliance.

2000 protest planned Coca-Cola plant closures in Germany

Feb. 14, 2009, workers, the local community, and politicians protested jointly in order to save the Coca-Cola production plant in Kaiserslauntern, Germany. 

"We were expecting  about 1000 people, but nobody figured there would be 2000 people turning out in solidarity with the Coca-Cola workers in Kaiserslautern, said Holger Winkow, regional representative of IUF affiliate NGG representing the workers at the protest meeting.
