Coca-Cola Indonesia: FSBMM members resisting anti-union dismissals take their fight to company headquarters

On July 29, IUF unions affiliated to the independent Food and Beverage Workers Federation (FSBMM) again demonstrated outside the headquarters of Coca-Cola Amatil in Jakarta, Indonesia. They demanded the reinstatement of Lutfi Arifiyanto, Atra Narwanto, Danies Andriadi and Jamaludin, the terminated union leaders and members.

Danies Andriadi and Jamaludin are members of the independent union at the Coca-Cola Bandung factory and were dismissed in November 2018 when forced redundancies were imposed within the framework of an "efficiency program" whose sole purpose was the elimination of the independent union SPMCC. The action against them follows the suspension and termination shortly after their elections of leaders of two other independent unions, Lutfi Arifiyanto and Atra Narwanto.

FSBMM will continue its rolling actions in Indonesia until the dismissed union leaders and members are reinstated and good faith collective bargaining starts with the independent and democratic unions formed by workers at Cola-Cola Amatil's Indonesian operations.

The IUF will maintain its support for workers in Indonesia indefinitely as well as support for those workers in Haiti, Ireland and the USA who also face repression of their fundamental rights at Coca-Cola.
