Coca-Cola European Partners on course for June completion

The creation of the Coca-Cola European Partners joint venture has moved a step closer, with registration of the entity gaining clearance in the US.

Atlanta-headquartered Coca-Cola Enterprises, which is partnering with Coca-Cola Iberian Partners and Coca-Cola Co's Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke unit in Germany to create the new bottler, has confirmed that the Securities & Exchange Commission in the US has declared CCEP's registration statement effective. The news means the closure of the transaction between the three companies, which was originally announced in August, is on track for the end of June.

CCE, Coca-Cola Iberian Partners and Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke will combine in Western Europe to create the world's largest independent Coca-Cola bottler, based on net sales.

A shareholder meeting has been called by CCE for 24 May. Shareholders of record at close of trade on 8 April will be entitled to vote on the merger proposal.

The meeting takes place in Atlanta.
