Workers at Coca-Cola Brampton approve new agreement

Workers at Coca-Cola bottling in Brampton, Ontario have approved a new three-year deal by 83 per cent, officially ending a three-week long strike.

"The real fight here was over the defined benefit pension plan, with Coca-Cola pushing us to move to a defined contribution plan," said Jerry Dias, Assistant to the CAW National President. "Coca-Cola can certainly afford for employees to retire with a stable income. We were ultimately successful in keeping the defined benefit pension plan and improving upon it."

Solidarity with striking Canadian Cola-Cola workers fighting outsourcing of full-time jobs

The 700 full-time workers and 100 temporary employees are walking the picket line at Canada’s largest Coca-Cola plant in Brampton since June 27. The major issues in the dispute are outsourcing and pension benefits.

Cincinnati Coca Cola Workers Join Teamsters

Employees of Coca Cola in the greater Cincinnati area working in the Vending Service Department recently joined Teamsters Local 1199.  The employees, 32 in all, repair vending machines and fountain equipment in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Area.

Coke, McDonald's Slam NYC Bid to Ban Big Soda Cups

Coca-Cola Co and McDonald's Corp slammed Mayor Michael Bloomberg's proposed ban on large soft drinks in New York City, arguing for freedom of choice and saying it would not effectively curb obesity.

"New Yorkers expect and deserve better than this. They can make their own choices about the beverages they purchase," Coca-Cola said in a statement on Thursday.

Coca-Cola US Dunkin' Donuts deal breaks union contract, threatens jobs

Dunkin' Donuts announced a major deal with Coca-Cola on April 2, 2012. It would serve Coca-Cola products in more than 9,400 restaurants in the United States after ending its PepsiCo tie-up. The employees of Coca-Cola Refreshments (Coca-Cola's North American bottling operation) organized in the IUF affiliated Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU-UFCW) hoped that this would result in hiring more.  

US: Teamsters Demand Health Care Protections for Coke Employees

Hundreds of Coke employees at production facilities in Bellevue, Fife,
Tacoma and Marysville raised informational pickets early on August 11 to call on Coke to maintain decent health care protections for its
employees and Coke retirees before the company provokes a strike.

Further protest action is planned for August 21. 

"All our employees are free to become or remain members of the Teamsters Local 728, or any other labor organization"

Following the settlement concerning unfair labour practices at its Marietta plant, Coca-Cola Enterprises has posted a notice on information boards in its Marietta, College Park and Atlanta West facilities, laying out in detail how the company intends to not interfere with its employees labour rights.
