Norwegian shop steward visits Coca-Cola Karachi

karachi1 January 22, 2009, Tony Farman, union shop steward at the  Coca Cola plant in Oslo Norway,and a member of IUF affiliate NNN, visited the Coca-Cola Factory at Karachi.

He was warmly welcomed by union officers and members at CCBPL Karachi plant. Tony first visited the production site and warehouse and then met with union delegates. Khaista Rehman, President of the Coca-Cola Karachi union,introduced Tony to the delegates, and explained about the situation at the plant.
Later the delegates questioned to Tony about working conditions and the role of the union in Norway, and other related matters. After the meeting, Tony expressed his happiness about this opportunity to meet Coca-Cola workers in Karachi.
In 2008, the IUF project officer in Pakistan had visited the Oslo factory and had intense exchange with workers there, many of which originate from Pakistan.
