Nicaragua: Union warns restructuring without proper consultation will create unrest

Sudden restructuring of sales routes has been announced by Nacional Refrescos SA, Coca-Cola bottlers in Nicaragua, owned by FEMSA.

This has led to serious concern of the trade union reprsenting workers in the company, SUT-INARSA. According
to Daniel Reyes, secretary-general, the rationale behind this maneuver is a plan to lower costs by eliminating routes and outsourcing part of the business.

The restructuring pilot project was started without proper consultation. The union has made it clear this is not acceptable.
