Coca-Cola Norway: Switch to disposable bottles costs 500 jobs

On February 10, Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) has announced that they no longer will use recycling systems for their plastic bottles but will use disposable bottles for bottling Coca-Cola products in Norway. IUF affiliated NNN (Norwegian Food and Allied Workers Association) which represents Coca-Cola Norway workers is very disappointed with the decision made in Atlanta which will lead to almost 500 unionized job cuts. The union representatives conducted negotiations with the employer since then and strongly opposed to this change.

Coca-Cola Hellenic to end production at 2 Greek units

Coca-Cola Hellenic , Coca-Cola's No.2 bottler worldwide, is to stop production at two of its five plants in Greece as part of cost cuts to deal with a protracted recession.

Poland: Coca-Cola factory in Lodz closes

January 25, Solidarnosc representatives signed an agreement with Coca-Cola Hellenic Polska about conditions of compensation for workers to be dismissed as a consequence of the plant closure in Lodz. Depending on seniority, workers will get between 3 and 10 monthly salaries of compensation plus a number of social benefits.

Poland : Coca-Cola workers organise

IUF affiliate Solidarnosc has successfully run an organising initiative among the workers in Coca-Cola Radzymin near Warsaw, Poland. More than 100 workers out of a workforce of close to 300 joined the new union local, more than doubling the number of union members in the country, where previously smaller locals existed only in the factory in Lodz and a distribution center in Gdynia.

Bad taste as Coke seeks to bury bad news over Malvern Water closure

The shock announcement by Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) that it is to close its Malvern Water bottled plant has been attacked as badly handled by Unite the union today (Thursday), and shows no respect for a loyal workforce.
