Deadlock in wage negotiations in Minas Gerais, Brazil

As reported by STI Bebidas, the trade union for the Coca-Cola bottler Remil in Minas Gerais, Brazil, which has been acquired by Coca-Cola Femsa some months ago, wage negotiations have reached a deadlock. Work Stoppages at Coca-Cola in Nepal

Sep. 25, 2008. Work stoppages were called by 5 labour unions in a labour conflict over bonus demands at Bottlers Nepal, in mid-September. Work was disrupted work at Bottlers Nepal’s two factories in Balaju, Kathmandu and Bharatpur in Chitwan district, demanding a hefty bonus for the coming Nepali festival of Dashain. The protest led to a slowdown of production at the two factories.
Bottlers Nepal, a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Sabco, employs nearly 500 workers and dominates Nepal’s soft drink market.
