LSG Sky Chefs workers in the US have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new collective agreement which has been hailed by their union, HERE, as the best in over 15 years.

With active support from the membership backed up by international solidarity organised by the IUF and by the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), HERE was able to win an improved agreement which addresses the workers' major issues: affordable medical insurance, limitations on sub-contracting, protection for immigrant workers (approximately 70% of LSG Sky Chefs workers in the US) and improvements to the grievance procedure.

Negotiations for the renewal of the existing agreement with the company had been going on for over 3 years, during which time the number of LSG Sky Chefs workers in the United States dropped from 10,000 to 7,500 in the wake of the September 11 attacks. Workers at over 40 HERE locals engaged in ongoing actions as part of a solidarity campaign launched by HERE in mid-2002, which was actively supported by the IUF, the ITF and their affiliates at LSG Sky Chefs kitchens across Europe.
