The government of Korea has renewed its attacks on the leaders of the Migrant Workers Union affiliated to the national center KCTU. Union President Kajiman, Vice President Raju and General Secretary Masum were all arrested in coordinated police operations the morning of November 27. The simultaneous arrests are part of an escalating nationwide crackdown on undocumented workers in Korea, including arrests and deportations.

Since its founding in 2005, the MTU has fought for an end to government repression of the 400,000 migrant workers in Korea and for recognition of the union's right to collectively represent and negotiate on behalf of migrant workers at the workplace.

The KCTU has appealed for international support on their English-language web site here, where you can also find a sample message to send to the Korean authorities.
