Draft declaration of Sodexo workers and unions

As Sodexo workers and union representatives we welcome the recent statement by Sodexo corporate management that the company is willing to enter into discussions to reach a global agreement with the IUF. We are committed to supporting this process, as we believe it will enhance the company's commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development and give Sodexo a competitive advantage relative to other players in the industry. A global agreement will also help to develop constructive relationships and social dialogue with unions representing Sodexo workers in every country where the company operates.

Our common aim is to ensure that working conditions and standards are raised globally so that all Sodexo workers can achieve:

  1. Decent salaries that are sufficient to support a family
  2. Equal pay and conditions for men and women for work of equal value
  3. Freedom from discrimination on the grounds of gender, ethnic origin, language, disability or sexual orientation
  4. Proper benefits with health and accident insurance for all (where these are not provided by the state), paid sick leave and maternity leave and paid holidays where these do not exist
  5. An end to casual employment contracts and the imposition of part-time working, and the creation of stable full-time jobs, wherever possible
  6. Health and safety protection, through preventive measures and actions to improve working conditions
  7. Protection of terms and conditions and benefits in the event of acquisition or transfer of contract
  8. The right to join together and form independent trade union organisations of their choice without opposition or obstacle from the company
  9. Compliance with national legislation in all jurisdictions in accordance with the Sodexo Charter
