May Day International Solidarity with Nestle Workers

On International Labour Day, 1 May 2010, solidarity pickets and marches in Russia, Hungary and the Dominican Republic highlighted the growing anger of the workers' movement as they called on one of the world most powerful corporations to respect union rights. IIn Santo Domingo, the National Labor Unity Confederation organised a public demonstration in support of Nestlé workers worldwide. The rally took place at Mauricio Báez Park.

In Budapest, several trade unions expressed their solidarity with Nestlé workers all around the world. Representatives and members of the Hungarian Federation of Foodworkers' Trade Unions (ÉDOSZ), the Meat Workers Union (HDSZ), the Federation of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Service Workers' Trade Union (MEDOSZ) and the Alliance of Young Trade Unionists (SZISZ) declared their support for the struggle for fundamental labour rights at Nestlé and called on Nestlé corporate management to respect workers rights globally.
