Despite resistance from the workforce, their union, the NGG, the local government, religious and other institutions, 42 workers will be out of a job on June 30, when the production line for returnable bottles at Neuselters in Löhnberg will be shut down. In future, the factory will focus on non-returnable packing for discount retail chains (see previous story).

The NGG thanks all IUF affiliates who sent solidarity messages during the Neuselters struggle and reports that this support helped them obtain a better redundancy plan for their members, including a training and job creation scheme partly financed by Nestlé.
