Joint presentations to workers at the Meliá London Hotel on July 10 by management and the IUF affiliate Unite introduced employees to the union and its activities. The meetings were the practical outcome of an agreement reached in April between Unite and Meliá, facilitated by the IUF with the participation of the Spanish unions CC.OO and UGT. The UK agreement was negotiated to implement effective compliance with the 2013 international recognition agreement between the company and the IUF.

At a meeting with workers in the morning and another in the afternoon, Meliá's UK Management affirmed its respect for the right of Meliá workers to join the union and its willingness to fully collaborate with Unite on programs including health and safety, training and other workplace activities. Unite introduced its activities and organization to the workers, the first step in the launch of regular meetings with the workers and management of the hotel beginning July 17.
