The Dairy Division leadership group met on 3&4 October and lauched a global organising initiative “A Fair Deal for Dairy Workers”. At the core of this initiative is the right of dairy workers everywhere to have access to join a union and to enter into collective bargaining.
Permanent work is the preferred form of employment and collective bargaining should include restrictions on the use of precarious employment.Global organising is to achieve a fair wage including social benefits for all, the removal of any discrimination in pay and conditions including as a result of employment status, and a safe and healthy working environment. In addition dairy employers will be held to account for any abuse of workers rights not only in direct employment but also throughout the company supply chain.
