Following six months of negotiations and campaigning, the workers union of the meat industry Criciuma region (SINTIACR), part of the IUF Brazilian affiliate CONTAC, has achieved a good outcome in their collective bargaining with JBS.

JBS had proposed to change the health care plan to the detriment of workers but agreement was reached on March 12 with the plan intact.

The President of SINTIACR, Celio Elias, commented that JBS undoubtedly felt the pressure of a media campaign conducted with the support of the IUF Latin American office and JBS responded positively when it became clear the fight to maintain the workers’ healthcare plan was to become international.
