“The turn is mine” – Sintrainagro’s successful training program for young banana workers
Published: 05/03/2020
Colombian IUF affiliate Sintrainagro, through its foundation Fundamilenio, runs a very successful young worker training program named “El turno es mío” or “The turn is mine.” The program recognizes the generational change in the banana sector and has now trained more than 500 young people from the municipalities of Urabá and Antioqueño.
The aim of the program is to empower young people not only to have decent work on farms but to be able to make responsible decisions in their lives. The program also plays an important role in reinforcing the notion that banana work should be decent work.
