As the Congress convened for its fourth and final day, delegates focused the debate around the shared struggle for peace, democracy and human rights.
- Delegates from Ukraine, Haiti, Burkina Faso and Belarus together with the IUF’s Regional Secretary for Latin America reminded the Congress of the centrality of the trade union movement to building and protecting democratic societies; Liv Torres, of LO Norway, spoke of the importance of the IUF’s role in combatting the accelerating triple crisis of the climate, inequality and war
- The Labour Minister of the National Unity Government of Myanmar addressed Congress delegates about the struggle to restore democracy and the need for greater international action to support the National Unity Government, particularly at the ILO
- Delegates debated and passed resolutions on Myanmar, the war in Ukraine, Belarus, the immediate release of Lee Cheuk-yan, peace and nuclear disarmament, the fight against fascism, as well as Emergency resolutions on Algeria, Kyrgyzstan, Dominican Republic and the fascist attack on the IUF Latin America conference
- Congress delegates unanimously re-elected Mark Lauritsen President and Sue Longley General Secretary of the IUF through to the IUF’s 29th Congress in 2027
