Freedom for all Iranian Sugar Union Leaders!
Reza Rakhshan, communications officer for the independent Haft Tapeh sugarworkers union in southern Iran, was arrested on January 4 and is now free on bail awaiting trial on charges of 'endangering national security'. Rakshan is still awating the final verdict from the 2009 trial which has imprisoned 5 other Haft Tapeh union leaders.

Haft Tapeh workers for many years have repeatedly had to resort to strikes and other actions to claim huge wage arrears and protest deteriorating working conditions. The regime is clearly determined to crush the union by putting its entire leadership behind bars. International support is urgently needed - please use the form below to send a message to the Iranian state and judicial authorities, demanding freedom for Reza Rakhshan and the other imprisoned sugar union leaders. Some messages may bounce back, but others will get through, showing the government that Iranian union leaders enjoy international support.
