In response to a worldwide protest campaign, work has resumed after a 3-month closure at the Nowera Nuddy tea estate in West Bengal, India designed to force workers to renounce their rights. But the workers have not received their wages and legally-prescribed rations for the three months they were pushed to the edge of starvation. Moreover, management has suspended 8 workers who are being scapegoated for a spontaneous protest last year in response to the mistreatment of a pregnant tea plucker who according to the law should not have been working. The estate is majority-owned by India's Tata Group, which also owns the UK's popular Tetley Tea. The workers have not abandoned their fight for justice - send a message to Tata/Tetley in support of their demands.
