Indonesia's President Must Meet with Hotel Workers Dismissed for Union Membership and Enforce the Law!
Dismissed workers from the 5-star Bandung Grand Aquila Hotel have walked nearly 250 kilometers to seek a meeting with the president of Indonesia, and are still waiting to hear if the country's leader is prepared to enforce Indonesia's legislation which makes union-busting a criminal offense. Since October 2008, when management at the Bandung Grand Aquila hotel responded to the formation by summarily dismissing the elected officers, 137 union members have been dismissed. Indoesian law makes union-busting a crime, but the law is rarely enforced. Union members from Grand Aquila have walked from Bandung to Jakarta to seek a meeting with the country's president - and are stilll waiting outside the gates of the presidential palace.
Use the form below to send a message to the president and government of Indonesia. Meet the workers, and take action to respect trade union rights at Hotel Grand Aquila!
