About 1,300 workers at three Cadbury (Mondelez) sites in the United Kingdom have reached a two-year pay agreement that addresses increased cost of living. The agreement also includes an improvement in maternity pay.

Maternity pay of 90 per cent of earnings is payable for the first six weeks under UK law. Under the agreement and after the first six week period, maternity pay will now be 65 per cent of earnings for the next seven-and-a-half months up from the current 12 weeks. This will be topped up by government’s statutory maternity pay.

National lead officer for the food drink and agriculture sectors Joe Clarke said, “We are very pleased with this deal that our members have voted overwhelmingly in favour of…The recognition of how important decent maternity pay arrangements are is warmly welcomed by our female members and is an example which others in this sector should emulate.”
