Arla is gathering the production of yellow cheese in Taulov, Denmark, and invest half a billion DKK

The dairy giant Arla has started a project at Taulov Dairy, Denmark, investing more than half a billion DKK over the next few years. For the moment they are building new facilities, just as production is being modernized and by that made more efficient.

The dairy giant Arla grows from proteins. Billion investment and new jobs in Nr. Vium stress that Danish wages are not in the way for growth.

A new drying tower, described as one of the most advanced in the world, and new production lines and a filtration system mean about 20 new jobs at Danmark Protein in Nr. Vium. Hiring has started. The new plant has cost 428 million DKK.

Saputo Inc. completed the transaction to acquire Morningstar Foods, LLC, a subsidiary of Dean Foods Company. The purchase price of $1.45 billion ($ US) was financed through a combination of $250 million in available cash and a new bank loan of $1.2 billion.

The New York Times reports that Gregg L. Engles is about to step aside as CEO of Dean Foods after years of generous paychecks as his company's fortunes tumbled. He averaged $20m in compensation for each of the last 6 years while company stock fell on average 11% per year.

A few weeks ago, Fomento Económico Mexicano SA de CV (FEMSA)acquired the Mexican firm Santa Clara, where approximately 200 thousand liters of milk are processed daily, 75 per cent of which are applied to fluid milk.

Last year, FEMSA became part of the dairy industry in Latin America as it acquired the group Grupo Industrial Lácteas (Estrella Azul), the greatest dairy group in Panama, which in 2010 accounted for 140.9 million dollars in revenue.

The ongoing projects vary from responsible farming to educational programs, caring services and sustainable sourcing. 41 active projects carried in 11 countries together with 31 partners create 51 000 jobs.
