Climate change, technology and equality included in Dairy Division work plan
At a planning meeting in San Francisco on March 12 & 13, the IUF Dairy Division Steering Group decided that it must be at the negotiating table to discuss the impacts of climate change and technology on dairy worker’s jobs. As methods of production change due to the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, so will jobs, and affiliates resolved to equip themselves with greater knowledge and resources to defend and promote decent work in the sector.
Affiliates also resolved to step up activity on equality and inclusion by promoting forums and structures for greater participation of women, LGBTI and migrant workers within our unions. In meetings with dairy TNC’s, gender equality will be on the agenda and the IUF will be proposing joint processes for gender auditing.
