The employees of dairy producer Danone in Rotselaar at a staff meeting on November 19 approved the draft agreement regarding restructuring and redundancies that management and unions had achieved. After an 8 days of strike majority of workforce started production again on November 20.

This will advance Danone’s ambition to expand yogurt consumption in the U.S., while growing Starbucks health and wellness offerings for its customers under the company’s Evolution Fresh brand.

FRANCE: Danone to "fight" for southern Europe

Danone has indicated its decision to "fight" for market share in southern Europe - and in Spain in particular - is one of the primary reasons that it has lowered its margins outlook for 2012.

In a regulatory announcement on 19 June, Danone dropped its margin forecast for the financial year from "stable" to "down 50 basis points".

Speaking during a conference call with analysts, CEO Pierre-Andre Terisse said rising unemployment was hitting consumer confidence in Spain, a market that accounts for about 7% of group sales.
