Workers to vote for better wages, job security and respect at Radisson Hotel Kathmandu
On August 18, 350 workers at Carlson Rezidor’s Radisson Hotel Kathmandu in Nepal will vote for union representation in collective bargaining. The IUF-affiliated Nepal Independent Hotel Workers’ Union (NIHWU) has won significant gains for hotel workers over the past 37 years, including improved wages and benefits, job security, and actively pushing for implementation of the industry-wide agreement on 10% service charge in hotels, restaurants and fast food so that it is fairly distributed to all workers.
NIHWU represents hotel and tourism workers in various government and tripartite meetings, and promotes the need for sustainable jobs as part of sustainable tourism. NIHWU is active in the IUF Global Housekeeping Campaign and Climate Justice for Tourism Workers.
